In 2012, my boyfriend blind-sided me with a break-up.
At the time I was unhappy, ashamed, and certainly wasn’t confident in myself.
I was in a really dark place and I didn’t know how to get out, so I tried a bunch of "quick fixes" to try to rid my emotional pain and find a physical self I was proud of.
You name it and I tried it.
One diet right after the next.
Restrictive diets, pills, fasting, shakes, cardio, DVD’s, etc. etc.
But the weight wouldn’t budge, and in fact, it kept just creeping back on.
Why?
Because every diet didn’t consider my emotional state. They didn’t consider that when I became stressed, I turned to crap food and booze.
They didn’t consider that instead of ‘following their template’ - I would eat my emotions because I felt overly restricted and hopeless.
